  • Gyru-Star E Range: Fast, Efficient Screening for 1-5 Ton Mini Excavators

In the world of construction, landscaping, and agriculture, smaller contractors often face significant challenges when it comes to recycling materials onsite. For many, the existing screening solutions are too large, too costly, or simply impractical for smaller-scale operations. Without the ability to recycle material onsite, many contractors are throwing away perfectly good material, only to have to more material from a supplier. Recognising this gap in the market, we set out to design a screening solution specifically for mini excavators: the Gyru-Star E Range. What Problem Was the E Range Designed to Solve? The main issue smaller contractors face is the inability to recycle materials onsite due to the size and cost of conventional screening equipment. Not only are these machines expensive to hire or purchase, but there is often just simply too big for many sites. As a result, contractors are often forced to pay for waste disposal services or send their waste materials to an offsite screening plant. This not only drives up costs but also creates inefficiencies in their operations. The Gyru-Star E Range was designed to tackle this problem head-on. It provides smaller contractors and machine operators with a cost-effective, compact screening solution that can operate directly onsite. This allows them to recycle materials like soil, aggregates, and compost where they're needed, transforming liabilities into assets and cutting down on both material costs and waste disposal expenses. Who Is the E Range Aimed At? Initially, the Gyru-Star E Range was designed with smaller contractors and machine operators in the landscaping and construction industries in mind. These professionals frequently work on confined jobsites such as gardens, where space is limited, and traditional screening equipment is too large to be practical. However, the E Range has also become a popular choice in the agricultural sector, where compact and versatile equipment is essential. From small-scale farms to larger agricultural operations, the E Range has proven its worth in helping operators manage and recycle organic materials and aggregates efficiently. Which Carriers are the Gyru-Star E Range Compatible With? The Gyru-Star E Range is purpose-built for mini excavators ranging from 1 to 5 tons. This means that whether you're using a compact machine on a small landscaping job or working on a confined construction site, the E Range will seamlessly integrate with your existing fleet of machinery. What makes the E Range even more adaptable is its compatibility with all makes and models of mini excavators within this weight class. Additionally, through our sister brand, Kustom Konnect, we offer custom-made head plates for any mini excavator, ensuring maximum flexibility and ease of use for operators. Key Benefits of the Gyru-Star E Range The Gyru-Star E Range offers numerous advantages for contractors looking to streamline their onsite operations. Some of the key benefits include: Turn Liabilities into Assets With the Gyru-Star E Range, you can screen almost any material directly onsite. This eliminates the need to transport materials offsite for processing, saving both time and money. By turning what was once waste into reusable material, you can significantly reduce both material purchase and waste disposal costs. Larger Screening Area Unlike traditional steel shaft screening buckets, Gyru-Star buckets use lightweight polyurethane stars. This allows the screening area to be significantly larger without adding unnecessary weight. As a result, even the smallest mini excavators can perform fast and efficient screening, boosting productivity on smaller job sites. Compact and Versatile The compact size of the E Range models means they can go wherever your mini excavator can. This makes them ideal for confined spaces like gardens and urban environments, where tracked or static screeners would be impractical. Whether you’re working in tight spaces or need to move quickly between locations, the E Range offers unmatched versatility. Reduced Equipment Costs The E Range allows you to make the most of machinery already onsite. This cuts down on the need to hire or purchase additional screening equipment and reduces ongoing maintenance costs. With the Gyru-Star E Range, you can take advantage of your existing mini excavator and avoid the hefty expenses associated with larger screening systems. Why Is the Gyru-Star E Range the Best Screening Solution for Mini Excavators? The Gyru-Star E Range offers a compact, efficient, and cost-effective solution for operators using mini excavators. Comprising four models, the E Range is not specific to any particular make or model of excavator and is compatible with all mini excavators on the market within the 1-5 ton range. Each model is carefully optimised for specific carrier weights, ensuring that you achieve maximum screening performance no matter the machine you're using. In addition to its versatility, the E Range is packed with industry-leading features as standard. This includes Hardox reinforcement in high-wear areas, ultra-low maintenance carbon belt drives, and a multi-layer monocoque shell for added strength and durability. These features ensure that your screening bucket is not only efficient but also built to withstand the toughest jobsite conditions, providing long-lasting performance with minimal maintenance. • 5 Innovative Ways to Use Your Gyru-Star Screening Bucket [That Aren’t Just Screening!]

With the colder, wetter months fast approaching, you may think it's time to pack up your screening bucket until the weather improves. However, with Gyru-Star Compact Screening Systems, that’s far from the case! Our screening buckets are not only built to perform in challenging conditions, including wet weather, but thanks to their True Screening® capabilities, they can be used for a wide range of applications beyond just screening.  Here are five innovative ways you can use your Gyru-Star screening bucket during the off-season: Mixing and blending Gritting icy roads Spreading snow on tulips Spreading topsoil for grass seeding Aerating soil and compost Mixing and Blending One of the standout features of Gyru-Star screening buckets is their ability to efficiently mix and blend material. The unique rolling action created by the flexible poly-star rotors is perfect for mixing and blending a variety of materials. Whether you’re working with compost, topsoil, aggregates, mulch, or even sand, Gyru-Star buckets enable you to mix and blend large volumes quickly and with minimal effort.  As the poly-stars are flexible, they don’t crush or shred the material, this ensures that they retain their structure and quality throughout the blending process. As a result, the final product is consistent, high-quality, and ready to be used in landscaping, construction, or agricultural projects.  Gritting Icy Roads  When winter hits, road safety becomes a priority. One of the more innovative uses of Gyru-Star screening buckets is for gritting icy roads. Operators in Sweden have found that the poly-star rotors can efficiently break apart any clumps in the grit, ensuring an even spread of material on the road surfaces. The bucket’s rolling action guarantees uniform distribution, which helps prevent ice build-up and improves road safety during cold weather.  A particularly sustainable benefit of this method is that when the ice melts and the weather warms, the grit can be recovered, cleaned, and reused for the next winter season. Gyru-Star buckets are ideal for removing stones and debris from the remaining grit, ensuring it’s clean and ready for storage, saving both money and resources for local authorities who rely on this process annually.  Spreading Snow on Tulips  In May 2019, the Swedish town of Skövde had the honour of hosting the country’s annual tulip festival. However, that year an abnormally warm winter caused some of the tulips to flower 3 months early.  To prevent the rest of the tulips from flowering too early, the organisers had to find a way of keeping the plants cold. However, a solution presented itself in the form of a Gyru-Star screening bucket. Ice shavings, collected from local ice rinks, were spread onto the flowers using the Gyru-Star bucket, to simulate snowfall. This prevented the tulips from flowering early, ensuring they were ready for the mid-May festival.    Creating an Even Layer of High-Quality Topsoil for Grass Seeding  Preparing soil for grass seeding can be a time-consuming and laborious task, particularly when trying to achieve an even spread of high-quality material.  Gyru-Star screening buckets offer a unique solution for this. As the bucket’s poly-stars rotate, they not only spread the topsoil evenly but also aerate the soil at the same time. This helps create a healthier environment for grass seeds to germinate, promoting better water absorption and root growth. Additionally, the screening action removes any unwanted stones, debris, and oversized materials, leaving behind a smooth, fine soil that’s perfect for planting.  This dual-action approach saves time and effort, ensuring you get a superior spread of topsoil with minimal manual intervention. It’s a particularly useful method for landscaping projects, sports fields, or any area that requires high-quality turf.  Aerating Soil and Compost Operators in the horticultural and agricultural industries have found Gyru-Star screening buckets to be an invaluable tool for aerating soil and compost. The gentle tumbling action of the poly-star rotors introduces air into the material without shredding or crushing it, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity of compost or soil structure.  Aeration helps to accelerate the decomposition process in compost and improves the oxygen levels in the soil, leading to healthier plant growth. With Gyru-Star’s range of models designed for compact loaders, tractors, and telehandlers, this aeration process can be done quickly and efficiently on a larger scale.  Because the screening buckets do not destroy the material, they are ideal for sensitive horticultural applications where maintaining the quality of soil or compost is essential. Whether you’re preparing compost for organic farming or aerating soil for planting, Gyru-Star buckets make the process more efficient and less labour-intensive.  Time to Invest in a True Screening® Solution?  Gyru-Star screening buckets are far more than just screening tools. Their versatility, especially in challenging conditions, makes them essential for a wide range of off-season tasks. Whether you’re mixing materials, gritting icy roads, preserving delicate tulips, or preparing soil for seeding, Gyru-Star buckets have proven themselves to be invaluable.  So, before you think about packing away your bucket for the winter, consider these innovative uses and how they can help you stay productive year-round. With Gyru-Star, you’re not just investing in a screening bucket—you’re investing in a multipurpose tool that adapts to your needs, no matter the season.  Get in touch with your local Gyru-Star dealer to find out more about our True Screening® Solutions.

  • What Does True Screening® Mean? [and Why Does It Matter?]

What Does True Screening® Mean? Gyru-Star Compact Screening Systems are a True Screening® solution, allowing you to transform your liabilities into assets. But what exactly does True Screening® mean, and how can it help you save time, money and material? The concept behind True Screening® is straightforward. It’s the ability to screen almost any material without crushing or shredding, regardless of the conditions. This non-destructive screening process is what sets True Screening® apart from other methods, offering distinct advantages that can significantly benefit your operations. Why is True Screening® Important? As True Screening® is a non-destructive process, it offers several unique advantages over more traditional methods. Here are some of the most significant benefits that have made True Screening® a ‘no-brainer’ investment for contractors across the globe: Reduced Material and Waste Disposal Costs One of the most compelling benefits of True Screening® is its capacity to transform liabilities into assets. • Can a Screening Bucket Save You Time, Money and Material Onsite? [Gyru-Star 4-100HE with 40mm Kit]

With growing material costs and an increased focus on sustainability, building contractors across Europe have been turning to onsite screening as a way to turn their liabilities into assets. The benefits are numerous: reduced material and waste disposal costs, lower environmental impact, fewer delays from late deliveries, and complete control of the quality of the product. Despite this, onsite screening has long been out of reach for smaller or self-employed contractors. The costs of purchasing, running, and maintaining a screening plant can be prohibitive, and that’s without mentioning the costs associated with transportation and storage. This was the challenge faced by John Haddock, an agricultural and building contractor in Southwest England, before he invested in a Gyru-Star 4-100HE screening bucket. Just outside Taunton, Somerset, John Haddock has been working on the groundworks and landscaping for a luxury farmhouse development. Faced with potentially eye-watering material costs for the 5-bedroom home, 500m driveway, tennis court, and private lake, he started to look for a way to recycle rubble from the demolition of the original farm buildings. Back in 2023, he came across Gyru-Star’s range of polyurethane star screening buckets at the Royal Cornwall Show . However, it wasn’t until the 2024 show, when he visited the MPS Southwest stand, that he made what he describes as “one of the best investments I ever made”. Following the advice of Jason McCullough , Managing Director of MPS, John purchased the Gyru-Star 4-100HE with a 40mm fragment kit for his 8-ton Kubota excavator. The 4-rotor screening bucket is one of Gyru-Star’s bestselling models and is optimised for 7-10 ton excavators. "The Gyru-Star 4-100HE is one of the best investments I have Ever Made" With an impressive 615 x 1000mm screening area and a capacity of 0.35m³, the 4-100HE allows the fast, efficient screening of any material. In this instance, the bucket was supplied with a 40mm (nominal) fragment kit. However, the 10mm, 15mm, and 20mm kits are also available. Using a tractor-mounted crusher, John had already processed much of the rubble from the demolition. He then used the 4-100HE to remove the fines and undersized material, leaving anything over 40mm inside the bucket. This process also removes any other debris or impurities that have got mixed up in the crusher run. The final product is being used throughout the project for both construction and landscaping work. In addition to the crusher run, John also has several large stockpiles of road planings on site, brought in from other projects. This material is being used to resurface the property’s rather long driveway. The screened road planings will be spread out and compacted, forming the new road surface. Any material over 40mm must be removed, as it is likely to loosen over time, damaging the road surface. So far, John has been nothing but impressed with his Gyru-Star 4-100HE . While he admits he was initially hesitant to invest in the bucket, he now wishes he’d done so a year earlier. Despite the jagged edges and abrasive nature of the crusher run, the flexible poly-stars have fared extremely well, showing no significant signs of damage. Thanks to the sealed bearings and carbon belts , there is no need for greasing either, eliminating downtime from maintenance. In the time that John has owned the bucket, he has not had to carry out any maintenance at all. John’s bucket was also supplied with a head plate from Gyru-Star’s sister brand, Kustom Konnect . Just like the bucket, the head plate was designed and manufactured in Gloucestershire, in the UK. So Why Use a Screening Bucket? John’s experience with the Gyru-Star 4-100HE highlights several key benefits that make it an invaluable tool for any contractor. Price Probably one of the biggest advantages of a screening bucket. As the purchase cost is far lower than a tracked or static screener, screening buckets are far more attainable for smaller contractors or self-employed machine operators. While they may represent a significant investment for some, most contractors find that the bucket soon pays for itself with the money saved on materials. Streamlined Operations Screening buckets only require a single machine and operator, further reducing the project’s overheads. With 30 models across 6 ranges , Gyru-Star has screening buckets suitable for any 1-30 ton excavator, 1-15 ton loader, and 1-5 ton skid steer. This means that no matter what carrier you have on site, it can be used to recycle waste material into a high-quality product. Lower Operating Costs As they are powered from the carrier’s auxiliary circuit, the only cost to operating a screening bucket is putting fuel in the carrier. Gyru-Star screening buckets, specifically, don’t require any lubrication, as they use carbon belt drives and sealed bearings. This means maintenance costs are practically zero. Compare that to even a small screening plant, which requires its own fuel, daily greasing, and regular servicing, and the benefits are clear. Furthermore, transporting the screening bucket to the site is also far easier. Like any other attachment, the bucket can easily be transported on the same trailer as the carrier, with many models in the Gyru-Star range also small enough to fit in the bed of a pickup. Screen Material Right Where It’s Needed With a screening bucket, you can process material right where it’s needed, meaning less time is wasted moving material around the site. Additionally, screening buckets combine multiple processes into a single operation. Ready to transform your jobsite with a fast, affordable screening solution? • Feature Highlight: Multi-Layer Monocoque Shell

When investing in a new attachment, the importance of durability and reliability cannot be overstated. Contractors require tools that can withstand harsh conditions, heavy use, and the test of time. Gyru-Star screening buckets are designed with these demands in mind, offering a range of features that ensure exceptional performance and longevity. One of the standout features contributing to the durability of Gyru-Star screening buckets is the multi-layer monocoque shell.    So, what are the advantages of this innovative design, and how does it improve the overall durability of the Gyru-Star range?    Built for Strength and Durability  Gyru-Star screening buckets are able to screen all kinds of material, from compost and topsoil to aggregates and demolition waste. This means that they can take a beating, especially when screening more abrasive or jagged materials.    The multi-layer monocoque shell is a crucial feature that provides the strength and resilience needed to handle demanding screening tasks. The monocoque construction, where the outer shell bears the load, ensures that the bucket can withstand significant stress and pressure during operation. This is particularly important when dealing with abrasive materials or heavy-duty applications.    Depending on the model, each Gyru-Star screening bucket shell consists of either two or three layers. These multiple layers create a robust structure that resists deformation and damage, even under challenging conditions. This provides an added layer of security, ensuring that the bucket remains intact and functional over extended periods of use.    Another critical feature of the Gyru-Star screening bucket’s shell is the reinforcement with Hardox abrasion-resistant plate in high-wear areas. Hardox is a type of steel that is exceptionally tough and resistant to wear and tear, making it a preferred choice for applications where abrasion is a significant concern. By reinforcing the high-wear areas of the shell with Hardox, Gyru-Star ensures that the screening bucket can handle even the most abrasive materials without suffering excessive wear.    The stainless steel floor is also another standard feature on all Gyru-Star screening buckets and is essential to the fast, efficient screening of wet and sticky materials. Furthermore, the stainless steel floor provides additional strength and corrosion resistance to the bucket shell.  Finally, the shells are powder coated in the signature Gyru-Star yellow. However, the powder coating is for more than just looks, providing a durable finish that protects the shell from corrosion.    For contractors, these features mean fewer repairs, less downtime, and a longer lifespan for the screening bucket.    Rigorous Quality Control Every bucket that leaves our production facility is subject to our rigorous quality control measures. Our dedication to quality extends to every aspect of production, and the shells are no exception.    The bucket shells are built by a team of highly skilled welders, who utilise their extensive experience to ensure that every weld is as strong as it is precise. Their attention to detail is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the multi-layer shell. Hand-welding allows for greater control over the welding process, ensuring that the shell is constructed to the highest standards.    By maintaining such high levels of quality control, Gyru-Star guarantees that their screening buckets will deliver the reliability and durability that contractors depend on.    A Design That Protects Your Investment  The multi-layer monocoque shell of Gyru-Star screening buckets is a testament to the company’s commitment to quality, durability, and innovation. With the multiple layers, stainless steel floor, Hardox reinforcement, and durable powder-coated finish, Gyru-Star screening buckets are built to last. For contractors looking to invest in equipment that offers both durability and efficiency, the Gyru-Star screening bucket’s multi-layer shell is a feature that sets it apart from the competition. It’s an investment in quality that pays off with every use, ensuring that your equipment remains in top condition for years to come.

  • The Best Option for Affordable Onsite Screening

Struggling with the Costs of Onsite Screening? Onsite screening offers many benefits, but it has often been out of reach for smaller or self-employed contractors. Screening plants are not only expensive to purchase and maintain, but they also require additional machinery and operators onsite. This is not to mention the logistical challenges and costs of transporting the equipment to the site. This means that many contractors are throwing away perfectly good material, as they are unable to remove impurities or oversized material. This not only increases the costs of waste disposal but also increases the quantity of new material which needs to be purchased. However, there is a solution...  The Affordable Solution for Onsite Screening Gyru-Star’s range of Compact Screening Systems provides a fast, efficient, and affordable solution for onsite screening. With 30 models for carriers from 1 to 30 tonnes, you can transform your liabilities into assets using machinery already available onsite. With Gyru-Star, you benefit from True Screening® technology, which produces high-quality screened material by effectively removing impurities without crushing or shredding. This process not only preserves the integrity of your material but also enhances the quality of the final product. Gyru-Star screening buckets are more cost-effective than traditional screening plants and offer a larger screening area than compact machines. They save money on materials and waste disposal and are economical to run due to their ultra-low maintenance design. These features combine to maximise productivity and minimise downtime, making Gyru-Star screening buckets an indispensable tool for any contractor. Why Choose Gyru-Star Screening Buckets? • Feature Highlight: Non-Stick Stainless Steel Floor

Gyru-Star screening buckets are renowned for their ability to screen wet and sticky materials quickly and efficiently. While the flexible poly-star rotors play a significant role, an often overlooked yet vital feature is the non-stick stainless steel floor. This feature is crucial for the consistent performance of Gyru-Star screening buckets, enabling them to handle challenging materials that would otherwise cause issues for competing products.  Why is the Non-Stick Floor So Important? It's a common misconception that screening can only be done in dry conditions. While this may be true for some screeners, it is certainly not the case for Gyru-Star. When screening wet or sticky materials, one of the biggest issues operators face is the screening media clogging or lumps of material forming. The non-stick stainless steel floor plays a pivotal role in preventing these issues. By providing a smooth, non-adhesive surface, it ensures that the material flows continuously into the rotors rather than sticking to the bucket's floor. A consistent flow of material into the rotors is key to fast and efficient screening. Why Stainless Steel? But why use stainless steel? Well, the primary reason is durability. Gyru-Star screening buckets are designed to be as durable and reliable as possible, capable of screening anything from compost to concrete waste. Whilst a non-stick coating will wear away over time, the stainless steel floor retains its non-stick properties even after years of use. Stainless steel's inherent durability makes it an ideal choice for equipment that is subject to heavy use and harsh conditions. Unlike other materials that may degrade or lose their effectiveness over time, stainless steel maintains its performance, ensuring that the screening buckets remain reliable and efficient throughout their lifespan. Furthermore, stainless steel is resistant to corrosion, which is another critical factor in the longevity of the bucket. Screening wet and abrasive materials can quickly degrade lesser materials, but stainless steel stands up to these challenges, ensuring that the bucket maintains its integrity for years to come. This resistance to corrosion also means that the non-stick properties of the stainless steel floor are maintained, maintaining the bucket's performance over time. In addition to its durability and corrosion resistance, stainless steel is also favoured for its ease of cleaning and maintenance. The smooth surface of stainless steel makes it easy to remove any residual material that may accumulate, further reducing downtime and ensuring that the bucket is always ready for the next job. Enhancing Overall Performance The inclusion of a non-stick stainless steel floor in Gyru-Star screening buckets exemplifies the attention to detail and commitment to quality that defines the brand. By addressing the common challenges associated with screening wet and sticky materials, Gyru-Star ensures that its equipment remains at the forefront of the industry. This feature not only improves the immediate performance of the screening buckets but also contributes to their long-term reliability and cost-effectiveness. Operators can rely on Gyru-Star screening buckets to deliver consistent, high-quality results without the frequent maintenance and downtime associated with lesser equipment.

  • Feature Highlight: Carbon Belt Drive and Hydraulics

Most screening buckets on the market currently use outdated chain drive systems, which are loud, require daily oiling and greasing, and are prone to mechanical issues. In contrast, Gyru-Star Compact Screening Systems utilise innovative carbon belt drives. This advanced system is not only far more reliable but also requires virtually no maintenance. Coupled with a plug-and-play hydraulic system, Gyru-Star screening buckets are ready to work the moment they arrive on site. Why Do Gyru-Star Screening Buckets Use a Carbon Belt Drive? When you rely on machinery to get the job done, even a minor mechanical issue can have major knock-on effects. This is why Gyru-Star screening buckets are designed to be as reliable as possible, keeping downtime to a minimum and maximising your productivity.  From day one, Gyru-Star has used carbon belt drives because they have proven to be far more reliable than chain drives and require significantly less maintenance. This means that no matter the job, operators can rest assured that their screening bucket will keep on working. What Are the Main Benefits of a Carbon Belt Drive System? Reliability : Gyru-Star’s carbon belt drive system is much more reliable than chain-driven systems, as it is self-tensioning.  Minimal Maintenance : With fewer components and no oiling or greasing required, maintenance and downtime are minimal.  Quieter Operation : Belt drive systems are much quieter than chain drives, making Gyru-Star screening buckets ideal for noise-sensitive sites, such as residential areas.  Lightweight Design : Carbon belts are lighter than chains, which improves the overall efficiency and manoeuvrability of the screening buckets.  Longer Lifespan : Carbon belts have a much longer lifespan than chains, increasing the system's reliability and reducing the likelihood of a mechanical issue.  How Does Gyru-Star’s Carbon Belt Drive System Work?  Gyru-Star screening buckets are hydraulically driven from the carrier’s auxiliary circuit, and each bucket is optimised for the carrier weight range and is designed integrally to ensure even weight distribution.   Thanks to Gyru-Star's low flow rate requirements, they can be used on a much wider range of carriers, including telehandlers and compact and mini loaders. This makes Gyru-Star screening buckets incredibly versatile attachments.   To control the speed of the rotors, the operator simply needs to change the hydraulic flow rate. For carriers without this option in the cab, an external flow control system is available. Standard on all skid steer models (SL range), this enables the operator to manually set the flow rate on the bucket. This accessory is compatible with all models in the Gyru-Star range.  Gyru-Star’s plug-and-play hydraulic system is designed for ease of use, ensuring that the screening buckets are operational as soon as they arrive on site. The system’s versatility allows it to be optimised for various carriers, making Gyru-Star screening buckets suitable for a wide range of applications.  Conclusion  With all the benefits of the carbon belt drive, and an advanced hydraulic system, Gyru-Star screening buckets offer a superior alternative to traditional chain-driven systems. They deliver enhanced reliability, reduced maintenance, and improved efficiency, making them an excellent choice for modern screening applications.  Ready to experience the Gyru-Star advantage?  Visit our Find a Dealer page to locate a dealer near you and learn more about how our innovative screening buckets can enhance your operations.
